3 Simple Decluttering Tips

With spring ahead of us, some people are anticipating ‘Spring Cleaning’ but why wait? Get a head start by doing some smaller tasks in February to lighten the load in the next few months! Here are 3 smaller jobs you can do in advance!

  1. Find one item to donate each day.

No matter how big or how small, choose one item in your home to put in a ‘donate’ pile. This action means that 365 items every single year will be removed from your home! Then, at the end of every month, donate it to your local thrift store or charity! For example, The Salvation Army in Strathmore is always gratefully accepting donations! You get a coupon to use in-store when you donate!

  1. Evaluate one room at a time!

You’re probably underestimating how much you’ll eventually end up donating or trashing – and the longer you put it off the worse it will be! Put your mind at ease by promising to evaluate one room at a time, making note of things to donate or things to keep; these smaller accomplishments will add up!

  1. Either repair those broken items, or finally let them go!

It’s easy to hold onto those items that you’ll eventually find the time to fix, so fix them! Put them in your car so you can get them repaired while you’re out, and put them to good use again! If you don’t get around to it within 30 days, perhaps it’s time to let them go.
